Yes genes do play a part and that's why can lift weights a grow but most will not. The proof is look at the kids who played football and basketball in 8th grade. Most football players were tall than the basketball players due to a lot of basketball players wanted to play football but did not for what ever reason. Those same kids probably were small also which gives them less of an edge. Now watch this. Not rest but good sleep. last is not calories but nutrition so one may get all the vitamins and minerals. different groups around the world are taller or shorter to what nutrients they have available to them.
